CIVIL ENGINEER.&NSP;&NSP;&NSP;&NSP;&NSP;&NSP;&NSP;&NSP;&NSP;

The Civil Engineer plans, designs and supervises the construction of building and civil engineering works. You are only responsible for structural works in building projects but for civil engineering projects you would perform the same functions as the architect (ie, designing)
You may choose to specialise in one or more of the following areas:
- Structural engineering - Designing and constructing of high-rise buildings, industrial complexes, power stations, highways, bridges, tunnels, flyovers and other on frastructures.
- Transport engineering - Designing and planning the re-shaping of the varies modes of transport such as land, sea and air.
- Water resources engineering - Specialising in projects that involves docks, harbours and coastal protection, flood control, river control, reclamation and coastal works, hydroelectric development, hydroelectric development, water supply systems, drainage systems, irrigation system, sewerage system and sanitary systems.
- Soil engineering - specialing in soil investigations, settlement studies, reclamations,foundation design and othe geotechnical problems.
- Project management - Management and planning of the development of new projects. In repairing and retrofitting of structures, you would study and implement maintenance strategies. In small scale projects where there is no architect stationed on site, you would assume the role
of the Resident Engineer to supervise work.
